About Zero Emission Phinisi
Our Story: Redefining Indonesian Luxury Travel
Zero Emission Phinisi was born from a simple yet profound question: Can we explore the breathtaking beauty of Indonesia’s 17,504 islands without compromising their future? As a proud member of the Juara Holding Group, a company deeply invested in Indonesia’s sustainable development since 2015, we saw an opportunity to merge heritage with innovation, and luxury with responsibility.
For centuries, the Phinisi, a traditional two-masted sailing ship of the Bugis people, has been the lifeblood of these islands. It is a masterpiece of UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage since 2017, a symbol of Indonesia’s maritime prowess. Yet, the reliance on diesel engines, which can generate underwater noise exceeding 120 decibels, has created a paradox: the very vessels that bring us closer to nature also contribute to its degradation through noise, pollution, and carbon emissions. We knew there had to be a better way.
Our journey began not in a boardroom, but in the traditional boatyards of Tana Beru, where shipbuilding skills have been passed down for over 500 years. We envisioned a vessel that honored the soul of the Phinisi—its majestic lines, its handcrafted artistry—while propelling it into the 21st century with a state-of-the-art, 150 kWh electric propulsion system. This vision became our flagship, the first of our zero-emission phinisi yachts.
Our Mission: Conscious Exploration
Our mission is to provide unparalleled luxury charter experiences that are regenerative by design. We are more than a yacht charter company; we are custodians of the seas we sail, dedicating 2% of our annual revenue to local marine conservation projects. We believe that true luxury is not about opulence alone, but about exclusive access to pristine environments, authentic cultural connections, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your journey actively supports the conservation of these natural wonders.
Every itinerary we craft is guided by this principle. From the silent glide of our yacht through the 1,733 square kilometers of Komodo National Park to the locally sourced organic cuisine—with over 80% of ingredients procured from farms in Flores—served on our decks, we are committed to an ethos of sustainability that is both meaningful and measurable. We operate in full compliance with the guidelines set by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).
